Nada Lee Farina

Nada Lee Farina, 92, of Canton, Ohio and Naples, Florida, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, sister in law, and aunt passed away on February 28, 2023.

 

She was born on December 1, 1930 to Walter and Cleda (Glover) McGowen in Akron, Ohio. After graduating from high school, she met James (Jim) Farina at a wedding reception where he was playing his accordion. They married July 14, 1949 and were married for 54 years until he passed away in November of 2003.

 

They went on to have six children, Lynn, Bonnie, Mark, Vince, Mike, and Matt. Nada was devoted to her husband and children and was a full time housewife and mother. She also spent several years caring for her father in law, Frank Farina, who then lived in the family home.

 

After the children left home, she and her husband spent time in Naples, Florida. They eventually made Naples their full time residence. They enjoyed their home in Florida very much and hosted many family members and friends.

 

Nada was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Walter, her husband, and her daughter, Lynn Cowles. She is survived by Bonnie (Bill) Ingels, Maryville, Missouri, Mark (Anne) Farina, Canton, Ohio, Vince (Kristina) Farina, North Canton, Ohio, Michael (Nancy) Farina, Maui, Hawaii, and Matt (Heather) Farina, Bonita Springs, Florida. She is also survived by siblings Shane McGowen, Uniontown, Ohio, Flynn McGowen (Susie), Stow, Ohio, Sanna (Ike) Grant, Akron, Ohio, and Sharman Mergenov, Sykesville, Maryland. She is also survived by a sister in law, Charlotte McGowen, Akron, Ohio. She was a loving grandmother to 16 grandchildren and great grandmother to 10 great grandchildren. And there are numerous nieces and nephews who called her “Aunt Nada”.

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Canton on Wednesday, March 8, at 11:00am. Calling hours will be held at the church one hour before Mass begins. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church 3430 St. Michael Blvd. NW, Canton, Ohio 44718.
