Mary Ebner

Mary Ebner, 92 years young, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 27, 2022, after a brief period of declining health following her last booster in September. Born on June 30, 1930, to the late Joseph and Rozalia (Clejdura) Datko. She was proud of her Slovak heritage and Catholic faith and was a longtime member of the former Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She is currently a member of St. Anthony/All Saints Church and wants everyone to know she is going out as an Italian. She is now reunited with the true love of her life, John “Jack” Ebner, whom she married on June 10, 1950 and who preceded her in death in 1992. She was a devoted wife to him and a beautiful love story could be written based on the life they shared. Mary was a busy woman and difficult to keep up with. She enjoyed many life-long friendships and shared a connection with numerous people. She was a member of Pike Grange, St. Mary Senior Citizen Group, the former Slovak Singers, First Slovak Catholic Ladies Association, and a 20-year volunteer at Mercy Medical Center. She enjoyed nothing more than her time spent on Wednesday afternoons at the Polish American Club dancing the Polka and socializing with her many friends at the Jam sessions. She also enjoyed crocheting, cooking, baking, organizing parties, telling jokes, playing cards, and her new-found interest of surfing the internet on her iPad. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary is preceded in death by her son, David Ebner, granddaughter, Mary Jo Shaw, sister, Anna Mae Duff, and brothers, Joe and Steve Datko. She will be dearly missed by her children: Mary Shaw and Pete Selent, Ann Marie and Denny “Butch” Almasy, Rose and Bryant Bartolone, and her daughter-in-law Brenda Ebner, 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, her best friend and sister, Rose Lorenzo, sister-in-law, Roseanne Skaggs, high school friend, Donna Grell, and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Catholic Burial will be celebrated (TOMORROW) Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 11:30 AM at St. Anthony/ All Saints Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Thomas Kraszewski as celebrant. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Calvary Cemetery. Friends and family will be received at the church two hours prior (9:30-11:15 am) to Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary’s memory to St. Anthony/All Saints Catholic Church, EWTN Global Catholic Television Network ministries, Wishes Can Happen, or the charity of your choice. The family would like to thank her caring neighbors who welcomed and watched over her the last several years. Services entrusted to the Mark R. Vrabel Funeral Home, North Canton, OH 330-452-4041.
