Mary “Mema” Veri

CORTLAND -- Mary "Mema" Veri 79, of Cortland, passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023, after a long, courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was born July 20, 1943, in Warren, and was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School.   Mary's entrepreneurial spirit was evident in the many businesses she owned and operated, including the Crystal Inn, In Vogue Hair Designs and Sabatini's Restaurant.  While she loved many things, including dancing (especially the jitterbug), cooking for family and friends, interior decorating, and playing cards--her greatest joy was being the best mom and grandmother to her children and grandchildren, as well as a cherished friend to everyone she met.  She had an amazing talent for making everyone she met feel as though they were part of her family.  She will be dearly missed and remembered. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Bill Veri; her mother and father; and one brother. She is survived by her husband and friend, Daniel Soletro; their daughters, Lisa (Jim) Franks and Jeanine Spangler; her grandchildren, Lauren (Ron) DeJulio Jr., Chelsea (Brad) Jones, Robert Franks, Natalie Franks, and Jenessa Spangler; her great-grandchildren, Annaliese, Luca, Macey and Braxton; her sister , Elena Sabatini; and many nieces and nephews. The family asks that you join them to share love, laughter and memories during a celebration of life, in Mary's honor, from 2 to 5 p.m.  Sunday Feb. 12, 2023, at Gatsby's at The Grand Resort, Howland.  In place of flowers, material contributions may be made to Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice.
