Eugene “Geno” A. Forchione

Eugene “Geno” A. Forchione, 62, of Massillon, passed away on January 20, 2023 at Aultman Compassionate Care after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on February 27, 1960 to the late Angelo and Lorraine (Sirianni) Forchione in Canton, OH. Geno was a 1978 graduate of Canton Central Catholic high school where he met the love of his life, Karen (Welling), and they married on September 12, 1981 and shared 41 years together.

His trade by day was to work for ComDoc as a copy machine technician, working mainly in the Stark County Schools, where he built incredible relationships with his coworkers and customers who became a part of his family. He will forever be remembered by his intense love for his family, his remarkable sense of humor, and his huge heart.

Geno’s greatest joy was being a father and Papa. His father instilled a message in him early on and like his father, Geno “spelled love T-I-M-E.” He spent every moment he could with his family and grandchildren. Some of his favorite pastimes included coaching his children’s sports teams, having a front row seat to their concerts and theater shows, Home Depot days with his kids and years later his grandkids. He was passionate about sharing his favorite baking recipes in the kitchen with those he loved, caring for his meticulous lawn and garden, sitting on his front porch with his dog admiring all of his hard work, as well as spending time with his Starbucks family. Geno put his heart and soul into every project he ever took on. His extraordinary creativity and attention to detail made each project an original, no matter the job. He served as a mentor to friends and his children by teaching them the importance of honor and dignity and instilled a strong sense of his volunteer-spirit to those he knew. His legacy will be carried on forever, always reminding us to spend time with those that we love, as that is the real definition of love.

Geno is preceded in death by his parents as well as his sister, Rita Forchione Michaud. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen; his children Laura (Josh) Beadling, Nick (Mandy) Forchione, Drew (Susannah) Forchione; his grandchildren Katyn, Kamdyn, and Korbyn; siblings Gloria (Phil) Paar, Ray Forchione, Allan Forchione, Bernadette Forchione, and Tina Forchione; along with many of nieces and nephews.

To each and every person that sent their thoughts, prayers, and donations, the family would like to express their most heartfelt appreciation. We would have never made it through these past four years without you all. This world lost an incredible light but Heaven is so much brighter and those lawn stripes are forever straighter. We love you, Geno.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Haven of Rest in Akron, Oh., as he was passionate about both.

The family will receive friends at Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. immediately followed by a celebration of life service.
