James Michael “Mike” DeMarsh Sr.

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of James Michael “Mike” DeMarsh Sr. of Canal Fulton. He will be forever remembered in our hearts as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend to many.

Mike was born on January 1, 1957 to the late William and Irene DeMarsh of Canton. He was a 1975 graduate of Central Catholic High School and a 1979 graduate of Bowling Green State University where he created many memories with his lifelong friends. He recently celebrated 40 years of marriage to his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Penny. Together, they had two children; he truly enjoyed his beautiful life full of coaching his kids at sporting events, family vacations, and always lending a listening ear. Becoming a “Grandpa/Pops” also brought him so much joy. Mike enjoyed reading, cooking, yard-work, fishing, and wood working. He was happiest when laughing with friends, sitting in his recliner next to his wife, watching Cleveland sports, or spending time surrounded by his family.

Mike passed away suddenly on Friday, February 10, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife, Penny, as well as his children Michael (Lauren) and Jennifer (Dominick Mastracco), his adoring grandchildren (Logan, Tyler, Ashton, Amelia, Dominick Jr., Francis), and many wonderful relatives and friends.

His family and friends are invited to share happy memories and celebrate Mike’s life during calling hours at Rossi Family Funeral Home on Thursday, February 16th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church on Friday, February 17th at 10:00am followed by burial services at Calvary Cemetery in Massillon, OH.
