Patricia Ann Starr (neeGrau)

Patricia Ann Starr (neeGrau) peacefully passed away on February 12, 2023, after an illness. She

was 90 years old and is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Donald Edward Starr, who

passed away in 2013.

A lifelong resident of the Canton/Massillon area, Pat was a graduate of Timken Vocational High

School in 1951, having also attended Mt. Marie Academy for Girls. Pat’s career included serving

as Community Clubs Awards Director for WHBC and WNYN. She hosted a talk show for WTIG

and was a Special Events Coordinator for Stern & Mann’s, as well as Mall Director for Bell tower

Square Mall.

Pat served as president of Soroptimist International, Business and Professional Women and

League of Women Voters. She served as Legislative Co-Chairman for the Youngstown Diocesan

Council of Catholic Women and served as a voting delegate to the National Convention of

Catholic Women in 1975.

She is survived by her daughter, Elaine Hurd of Nevada; her son, Donald Starr, Jr. (Carol);

grandchildren, Donald Starr III and Megan Bradarich (Phil); and one great-grandchild of

California; as well as sister’s in-law, Judy Grau of California and Ruth Starr of Kentucky many

nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by brothers, Theodore H. Grau and Paul B. Grau.

Graveside services will be held at the Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery in Massillon on Monday,

February 20 at 11:00 a.m., to be followed by lunch at a local restaurant.
