Edward T. Yatsco

Edward Thomas Yatsco, 78, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Hospice House. Edward was born August 4, 1944, in Youngstown, a son of the late Carl and Estelle Walko Yatsco, and was a lifelong area resident. He was a 1962 graduate of Chaney High School where he was a member of the golf team for three years and a member of the National Honor Society for two years. Edward later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education and a master's degree in educational administration from Youngstown State University. While at YSU, he was a member of the golf team and the math club for four years. Mr. Yatsco worked as a math and science teacher for 30 years, teaching in Liberty, Lakeview, and Warren City Schools Systems as well as the Ashtabula Career Center. During his teaching career, Ed coached many sports teams in Liberty. He also worked seasonally with H & R Block as a tax preparer in Austintown for 44 years. Ed was an excellent and avid golfer and was a member of the Holy Name Golf League the Slovak Catholic Sokol Golf League, the YMCA Golf League, and the YDGA Golf League. He was very proud of his double eagle and his season average of 34 for 9 holes. He loved going to movies, concerts, and YSU football and basketball games. Ed was also an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns, the Cleveland Indians, and the Cleveland Cavaliers and enjoyed watching and attending games. Mr. Yatsco was a member of St. Christine Church in Youngstown. Ed leaves to cherish his memory, his two sons, Thomas E. Yatsco of Washington, D.C., and Michael A. (Sonal) Yatsco of Canfield; a brother, James (Cathy) Yatsco of Hollywood, S.C., and a sister Eileen (John) Pannunzio of Youngstown. Ed was very proud of his children and his family and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him His wife of 48 years, Judy Marie Matts Yatsco preceded him in death. Family and friends may gather to pay respects from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 19, 2022, at St. Christine Church 3165 S. Schenley Ave., Youngstown, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Austintown where Ed will be laid to rest next to his wife. Ed's family would like to extend a very special thank you to Mary Booker, Herb, and Mary Ann Mancini for their thoughts and prayers and to Jerry Tinal for his help throughout the years. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home in Youngstown.
