Josephine “Jo” Fiorenzo

On Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022, Josephine “Jo” Fiorenzo, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 94. Jo was born March 17, 1928, in Niles, to John and Mary Busetincan Saraya, who immigrated to the U.S. from Croatia. Jo attended St. Stephen Parish school and graduated from Niles McKinley High School in 1946. She met her future husband, Philip Fiorenzo, while working behind the soda counter at a local drugstore. They married April 12, 1947, and raised two children, Les and Patricia, in Girard. Jo was an active member of St. Rose Catholic Church and the local Senior SCOPE centers, where she made many lasting friendships. She enjoyed weekly square dancing and participated in the “Golden Age Follies” musicals. Jo loved to travel and was a member of the Trumbull County Travel Club. Her family and friends will remember her gregarious personality and her delicious baked goods, which she often shared. Jo was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, John Saraya; and her husband, Philip. She is survived by her son, Les (Abra); her daughter, Patricia (David Gormsen); three grandchildren, J.P., Lia (John Gianelloni) and JoEllen (Matthew Kahnert); five great-grandchildren, Cora and Tessa Gianelloni, and Caleb, Audrey and Mia Kahnert; and nephew, John (Lisa). A private graveside service with family will be held in Resurrection Cemetery in Austintown.
