Tami Christine Garner

54, of Canton passed away December 30, 2021 at Mercy Hospital under the gentle care of Mercy Hospice with her brothers and sister in law by her side. Tami was born on September 2, 1967 to the late John and Dorothy Garner.

Tami is survived by her brothers, Terrance (Melissa)and Jeffery (Joan); loving companion Jason Kelly; nieces and nephews, Damien (Katie), Shawn (Scarlett), Isaac (Mara), Andrew, Rachel, Theresa, Ragjeen, Alex (Erin), Rodger and Roshan; great niece and nephews, Trenton, Armando, Desiree, Gabriel, Liam and Finley; Aunt Jacqueline Milan and many cousins and friends.

Tami was of the Catholic faith and attended St. Joseph's Elementary School in Canton and was a 1985 graduate of Central Catholic High School. Following high school, she attended the University of Cincinnati graduating with a BA in Business. She furthered her education at Kent State University and obtained an MA in Special Education.

Tami's employment history includes Dillard's, Lane Bryant, Canton City Schools, 14 years as an EI specialist at Stark County Board of Developmental Disabilities and most recently at Mahoning County Board of Developmental Disabilities as an SSA before resigning her position due to her illness.

While employed at SCBDD Tami was involved in the union and served as the treasurer for several years. She was also an active member in the now defunct Pilot Club.

Tami was very social and always up for an adventure. She loved shopping, good food, her family and the DD families she served and all animals, especially cats. Tami enjoyed watching and attending football games with Jason and was a huge Notre Dame fan. She was very generous and always thinking of others. She made a difference in the lives she touched.

Services will be Tuesday January 4, 2022 at 1pm in the Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery, 3469 Lincoln Way E., Massillon, OH, Deacon Randy Smith officiating.
